Dcode’s Federal Accelerator (FA) has helped hundreds of companies – of which more than 40 are unicorns – build and scale in the federal marketplace. We sat down with the FA leader, Tait Ryssdal, to learn more about this unique program and get inside the magic. Any questions? Reach out to us at info@dcode.co. And see the bottom of the article to learn more about the FA and how to register for our next cohort.
What is the Federal Accelerator?
Dcode’s Federal Accelerator is an 8-week, all-virtual program designed to help advanced technology companies build and refine their federal go-to-market strategy. We take years of federal expertise and pack it into a structured, high-impact experience that helps companies turn federal interest into real revenue. Each week, we dive into key topics like strategic partnerships, sales, marketing, messaging, and federal use case development – everything you need to break into the government space and grow. Our mission is to assemble technology solutions that align with the government’s focus on mission performance, operational efficiency, and speed to mission delivery.
We’ve helped build some of the biggest names in federal tech today, and our track record speaks for itself—over 45 unicorns have come through the Accelerator, making it a true unicorn generator for the federal market.
Who should apply?
If your company has a strong commercial foundation and wants to explore public sector opportunities, this program is for you. We work with companies across a number of tech verticals – AI, cybersecurity, quantum, edge computing, UAS, clean energy, and more. Whether you’re an early-stage founder figuring out if federal is the right move or a later-stage company looking to strengthen your federal vertical, we’ll help you navigate the process faster and smarter.
What makes Dcode’s Federal Accelerator different?
Unlike other programs, we don’t take equity. Your only cost is a one-time service fee of $3,000 for your entire company. But more than that, we go beyond just introductions – we give you the playbook and tools to succeed in the federal market on your own. With access to our deep network of government, industry, and GovCon leaders, plus hands-on mentorship and real-world insights, you’ll leave the program with a clear, actionable strategy. Our approach is tailored to help companies with cutting-edge technologies support the government’s workforce, reduce costs, and enhance mission outcomes.
The Accelerator isn’t just about getting your foot in the door—it’s about setting your company up for success in the federal market. We’ve seen companies transform from newcomers to major players, securing critical contracts and scaling their impact in government.
What kind of time commitment are we talking about?
We know you’ve got a lot on your plate, so we keep it manageable. Expect to spend about 1-2 hours per week engaging with our curriculum, strategy sessions, and networking events. Everything is recorded, so you can go through it whenever it works for you.
What resources and tools do participants get?
You’ll get access to an extensive library of recorded sessions, strategic workshops, expert mentors, and practical tools covering everything from procurement and compliance to messaging and sales strategy. Plus, support doesn’t stop when the program ends – alumni keep access to our curriculum and network long after graduation.
What networking opportunities are available?
You’ll be able to connect with key decision-makers from agencies across the defense, intelligence, and civilian spaces, along with experienced industry professionals from top partners. These connections help accelerate partnerships and technology adoption, aligning your solutions with government priorities in emerging tech fields.
Can you share some success stories?
Absolutely. Pixxel, a hyperspectral imagery company, joined the Accelerator to get its leadership team aligned with its new federal sales efforts. Now, they’ve landed major contracts with the National Reconnaissance Office and NASA. 14bis Supply Tracking, a logistics company serving aerospace and defense, sharpened its federal contracting strategy through the program. Since then, they’ve expanded their Air Force partnerships and leveled up their government marketing approach.
And they’re not alone—our program has helped launch and scale some of the most successful tech companies in the federal space today.
