Air Force selects Dcode to provide training, advisory services for technological innovation

Washington, D.C., September 26, 2022

Today Dcode, the premier advisory firm connecting the tech industry and government to drive commercial innovation in the federal market, announced that Air Force Ventures awarded a Strategic Funding Increase Program (STRATFI) to scale technology development over the “valley of death.” Dcode will help accomplish this by capitalizing on current SBIR and STTR Phase II efforts to turn prototypes into Air and Space Force Programs.

The 4-year award will allow Dcode to provide the Secretary of the Air Force, Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Strategic Studies Group (CSAF/SSG) and Secretary of the Air Force/ Concepts, Development Management (SAF/CDM) Office with technological innovation at scale, connecting disparate and siloed groups to drive an intentional and unified culture of innovation.

“We are so excited to work with the programs for the Chief of Staff of the Air Force and Secretary of the Air Force to incorporate innovation into existing acquisition processes and drive better outcomes from enterprise-wide procurements,” said Riya Patel, Managing Director of Government at Dcode. “We teach our government and tech clients how to drive tech innovation in what is traditionally seen as a very risk-averse market – we’re looking forward to working with the Air Force on the application of those best practices.”

The Air Force and Dcode will partner to:

  • Implement a robust innovation governance framework to drive innovation and transition concepts to scale
  • Support the development of agile acquisition frameworks designed to bring innovation throughout the acquisition process
  • Engage with non-traditional vendors to facilitate procurement of the cutting-edge technology necessary to improve mission delivery
  • Empower government decision makers with training and the tools to establish an intentional culture of innovation

“This award underscores the progress and commitment key government agencies, like CSAF and SAF/CDM, are making to deliver cutting edge technology to our warfighter,” said Meagan Metzger, Founder and CEO of Dcode. “STRATFI makes big bets on great ideas, investing in companies that can help the U.S. maintain its competitive advantage. Dcode is incredibly honored to work with the highest echelons of the Air Force to help shape the strategic mission of the service.” Through the STRATFI program, qualified small businesses can receive between $3 million and $15 million in SBIR/STTR funds during a four-year performance period.
